SEO for wholesalers and distributors starts from one fact: buyers search the brand and the region, not the distributor. A line card of two hundred items on one page cannot be found by any of them. We measure where you stand against the suppliers you lose orders to, and specify the page per line, per capability and per location that puts you in the result.
Industrial distributors, MRO and supply houses, logistics and 3PL, engineering firms. Owner-run, regional.
SEO for wholesalers and distributors is different because a distributor sells other companies' products, and buyers search for those products and brands rather than for the distributor. A line card of two hundred items on one page ranks for none of them. The fix is structural: a page per authorized line, a page per capability, and a page per location, so that a search for a brand plus a region can land somewhere.
Manufacturers, covered on the industrial SEO page, have it easier. They make one thing and can write a page about it. A distributor carries twelve brands and two hundred SKUs and typically describes the whole inventory in a PDF line card and a paragraph that says "industrial supplies for every need." No buyer searches that. Buyers search "Parker fittings distributor Ohio" or "SMC pneumatics near me" or "authorized Milwaukee tool dealer," and a site with no page for Parker, SMC or Milwaukee is not in the result.
The same applies to wholesalers, industrial suppliers, logistics firms and engineering consultancies. The common thread is a business that does many things for many customers and describes all of it in one place, so that search has nowhere specific to land.
The search market for distribution is empty, in the specific sense that almost nobody has built pages. The terms distributors would use to find SEO help carry difficulty scores of 1 to 7, and the same is true of the brand-plus-region terms their buyers type. The buyers are searching. The pages do not exist.
We see the pattern on both sides. On the supply side, "seo for wholesalers" has 480 monthly searches and a difficulty of 5, which means a handful of distributors are looking for help and almost no one is offering it to them specifically. On the demand side, the brand-and-region terms their customers search typically carry a few dozen to a few hundred monthly searches each and difficulty in the single digits, because no distributor in the region has built the page. A distributor with forty authorized lines has forty such pages available to it.
The economics favor the distributor. Forty terms at 50 searches a month each is 2,000 monthly searches from buyers who have already named the brand and the region. That is further along the purchase than any consumer search.
A buyer finds a distributor by product or brand, with the region attached, then by who stocks it, then by terms and delivery. The search is specific and late-stage: a buyer typing a brand and a city already knows what they want and is choosing where to get it. The distributor with a page for that brand in that region is on the shortlist. Everyone else is not.
Two details matter, and the AI visibility page covers the second in depth. First, the brand page has to say the distributor is authorized, in text, because that is a search term and a buyer's filter. Second, the region has to be resolved: one address, one phone number, one name across the site, Google Business Profile and the manufacturer's own dealer locator. A distributor listed under three address variants fails the "near me" test in both search and AI answers, and AI answers are now where many buyers confirm who stocks what.
A distributor website needs a page per authorized line, stating the brand, the categories carried and the authorization. A page per value-added capability: kitting, VMI, cut-to-length, repair. A page per location with the lines stocked there. Resolved entity data throughout. Usually twenty to fifty pages, built once, each one a search a buyer makes.
Forty pages sounds like a lot. It is one afternoon of specification and a few weeks of writing, and after that each one is an asset that works without further cost. The alternative is paying for every click.
This fits industrial distributors, wholesalers, MRO suppliers, electrical and plumbing supply houses, packaging distributors, logistics and 3PL firms, and engineering consultancies. Owner-run, regional, with authorized lines or defined capabilities and a website that lists them in a paragraph.
The fit is strongest where the business has lines or capabilities a buyer searches by name, a region it serves, and someone who can publish a page when handed one. It is weakest for businesses that sell entirely through catalog and sales reps and have no interest in search as a channel.
