An AI visibility audit for manufacturers measures whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI name your company when an engineer or buyer asks for a supplier by process, material, certification and region. Most manufacturer sites state those things in PDFs, logos and equipment lists, which the engines cannot quote. The audit finds which parts of the question you fail to answer.
How manufacturing buyers ask AI, what the audit usually finds, and what you receive.
An AI visibility audit for manufacturers measures whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews name a manufacturer when an engineer or buyer asks for a supplier by process, material, certification and region. It counts mentions per engine, lists the sources each engine cites, checks that the site can be read by each engine's crawler, and identifies which parts of the buyer's question the site fails to answer in words.
The last part is what makes an audit for manufacturers different from a general one. A manufacturing buyer's question is built from parts: a process, a material, a tolerance or spec, a certification, a volume and a region. An AI engine matches each part against what it can read. A machine shop that does 5-axis titanium work to AS9100 but says so only in a PDF capability sheet and a footer logo has not stated any of it in a form the engine can use.
They ask it the way they would brief a colleague: a process, a material, a requirement and a place, often in one sentence. "Who does medical device injection molding in Ohio with ISO 13485" is a typical shape. The engine answers with three or four named companies and the sources it drew on. Suppliers not named are not on the list the buyer starts from.
Manufacturer websites are usually written for a different reader: someone who already knows the company and wants reassurance. "Precision solutions since 1972" reassures that reader and tells an AI engine nothing it can match against a question. The audit compares your pages, line by line, against the questions buyers in your category ask, and against what the competitors who do get named have stated.
Six faults recur: capabilities stated only in PDFs or images; certifications shown as logos with no text; one capabilities page covering every process, so no process has a page of its own; no region stated; server or firewall rules that refuse AI crawlers; and purchased backlinks that do nothing for AI answers. In one industrial market we measured in July 2026, five of seven companies had purchased or spam backlinks and none appeared in the AI Overview for their category.
None of these is expensive to fix. Most are a few days of a developer's time and a few pages written in the buyer's words. The hard part is knowing which ones apply, which is what the measurement is for.
A written document, not a call: mention counts for each of the four engines with the questions used, the sources each engine cited, crawler access results for every major AI bot, the parts of the buyer's question your pages fail to answer, what the named competitors state that you do not, and a one-paragraph thesis. The first analysis is free and arrives in three working days.
| What | Cost | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Free analysis | Nothing | Four-engine mention count, crawler-access check, entity check, thesis, in summary. Two to three pages. |
| Full engagement | From $20,000 | The full audit with measured data, a specification for four pages, and the pages written. No retainer. |
Your existing developer or marketing agency publishes the pages. The comparison of AI visibility audits sets this beside what other providers serving manufacturers include, and the manufacturing page covers the Google side of the same work.
Figures described as measured are from Search Standing's own analyses using Semrush, Google Search Console and direct queries to each AI engine, on the dates stated. Published ranges move quarter to quarter; the patterns are what we rely on.
Send your company and your market. We will run the analysis and send back a summary naming your competitors, the terms they are winning, and where you sit against them.
No call required and no obligation. Read it, check it yourself, and decide. If the findings are worth discussing after that, we can talk then.
Prepared for your company against the competitors you name. Written by the person who would run the paid work.
